A FAMILY-RUN BUSINESS IN BROOKS SINCE 1965
On October 21st, 1965 Bill and Evelyn Lutes established Lutes Building Centre in Brooks Alberta. Throughout the late 1960’s and 1970’s, as the city of Brooks grew so did their company, and soon Bill and Evelyn’s children, Bill, Janey and Allen were all involved in the family business.
A period of transition in 1986 saw Lutes Building Centre expanding and growing from one vehicle to multiple trucks and forklifts. Allen Lutes and Jim Holkestad took the helm around this time to ensure continued growth of the business.
In 2007, Travis Lutes, grandson of Bill and Evelyn, joined the family business full time and moved Lutes Building Centre to its current location. This new location boasts a larger sales floor, computerized sales desk, as well as a larger delivery fleet including multiple picker trucks. Deciding that it was time for a slight change, Lutes Building Centre began to go by the trade name Lutes Timber Mart.

Lutes Timber Mart continued to grow as a family business with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren growing up in the community. The Lutes family and staff have taken great pride in sponsoring and coaching local sports teams in baseball, hockey, soccer, basketball, football and volleyball as well as 4-H and numerous other youth-oriented programs in Brooks and the County of Newell. In 1998, we continued our community support by becoming one of the founding fathers of the Brooks Bandits and in 2016, the Brooks Bombers WCBL team. In recent years, we helped sponsor the New CRA, the Brooks regional ball park, and the Duchess Recreation Centre.
